Airbus Launches Outsized Freight Transportation Service
The BelugaXL: A Giant in the Sky
Airbus has launched the BelugaXL, a new super transporter based on the Airbus A330-200F. The BelugaXL is designed to replace the original Airbus BelugaST, and features one of the most voluminous cargo holds of any civil or military aircraft flying today.
Supporting Airbus Production and Beyond
The BelugaXL was launched in late 2014 to support the A350 ramp-up and other production rate increases. However, Airbus has now announced that the BelugaXL will also be available to offer outsized freight transportation for customers worldwide.
Unique Capability for Outsized Freight
The BelugaXL's unique capability lies in its massive cargo hold, which has a volume of 2,223 cubic meters (78,480 cubic feet). This allows the BelugaXL to transport outsized cargoes that cannot be carried by conventional aircraft, such as aircraft parts, satellites, and heavy machinery.
